5 common mistakes marketers make when using direct response in Facebook Ads

Direct Response Advertising is a powerful tool for building your brand, generating leads, promoting products or services, increasing awareness, and driving direct sales. But direct response ads serves a unique purpose -- they must make an offer and direct people to take action immediately.

Here's some common mistakes:

#1: Not having a compelling offer that speaks to the needs of your ideal audience - This is HUGE! If you're not providing something valuable, then why do it?

#2: Not testing different audiences & copywriting before committing time, money and energy - You need to know who your target market is and understand their pains/needs so you can write compelling ad copy.

The best way to find out what works for your business is by A/B split testing ads with different copywriting & targeting options. Once you discover what, THEN you should scale.

#3: Not following up after the direct response ad - If you direct people to your website, THEN what? This is one of the biggest mistakes small businesses make when it comes to direct response advertising.

Direct Response ads are just ONE piece of the puzzle. You need a system in place that allows you to systematically turn direct response traffic into leads and then multiply it by getting more direct response traffic via retargeting campaigns , social media marketing, email marketing  & content marketing . So follow-up with these people ASAP after they click on your ad! I recommend using Facebook Custom Audiences or Adroll  (a little pricey but with great quality).

#4: Spending money without knowing if direct response advertising is working - Another very common direct marketing mistake is businesses not testing or tracking results before, during and after campaigns.

#5: Not having a direct response conversion plan in place  - A direct response advertisement without direct action isn't very useful. You need to understand how to identify your customers & figure out what kind of offers they want most...then make it happen.
